About Skin Texture & Fine Lines
Dr. Rieder has been using a variety of techniques to improve texture and fine lines since his initial training at NYU Dermatology. Having expertise with multiple modalities of treatment, he is able to offer his clients the best in skin resurfacing and smoothening.
Dr. Rieder utilizes neurotoxins such as Botox, Daxxify, Dysport, Jeaveau, and Xeomin to smoothen dynamic lines, e.g. the expression lines of the forehead, the “11” lines between the brows, the crow’s feet around the eyes. Injections are very quick, nearly painless, and allow for dynamic movement and expression without wrinkling. These injections safely and predictably allow for smoothening of skin and a more youthful appearance in a totally natural way.
How Do You Treat Thinning Skin?
For textural concerns such as thinning skin, loose / lax skin, and cellulite, Dr. Rieder will use bio-stimulatory volumizers such as Sculptra. Injections with this product allow for gradual revolumization and smoothing of skin texture over time.
For static, unmoving lines that remain when the face is at rest, Dr. Rieder uses soft tissue fillers (e.g. Juvederm, Restylane, RHA) when a little-to-no downtime approach is needed. For more on soft tissue fillers, see Facial Volume & Contour.
How We Achieve the Best Results
Dr. Rieder often utilizes lasers alone or in combination with neurotoxins and soft tissue fillers to achieve optimal results. He offers the best-in-class resurfacing lasers using both fractionated nonablative (e.g. Fraxel, LaseMD), fractionated ablative (e.g. carbon dioxide – CO2), and fully ablative lasers (CO2). These lasers do require some downtime, ranging from 5-6 days of gentle sandpaper-like flaking of the skin through a week of redness/crusting, depending on the skin concerns and the individual client’s preferences.
Mild textural issues, dullness of skin tone, or active acne may be treated with zero downtime LaseMD resurfacing or gentle chemical peels.
Enlarged pores are often difficult to treat, and Dr. Rieder is often called upon to treat patients who have not have optimal results with their previous providers. Pores are a normal feature of human skin, though, in Dr. Rieder’s experience, a combination treatment using resurfacing lasers, prescription medications, and skincare yield the best results.
